PCB Manufacturing Overview
We offer a broad range of contract PCB assembly services and allied processes across the business – Surface Mount Technology, Conventional Leaded Technology, Special Processes, RoHS/Non-RoHS, Selective Wave Soldering, Inspection Methods, Conformal Coating, and DFM&T Support.
Surface Mount Technology
Employing industry standard DEK solder paste printers, ASM Siplace & Mycronic placement machines and BTU convection air reflow ovens, we achieve industry standards and beyond in the accurate placement of surface mount devices. With many years experience of placing BGA, UBGA, CSP and small profile passives down to and the capability including 01 005 case sizes, the plant offers a cost effective high yield solution to any SMT requirement.
Conventional Leaded Technology
In spite of the continuing growth in the use of surface mount technology, the use of conventional leaded components in new products continues in strength. Ultra Electronics Energy staff have many decades of experience in hand assembly, working to IPC 610 class 3, the high reliability standard of workmanship. With a dedicated workforce and a comprehensive infrastructure of works instructions and procedures, our plants manufacture product for demanding customers where consistency of quality is essential.
We offer a variety of less common processes, including the use of high melting point solders, intrusive reflow and potting.
Security cleared PCB assembly staff
All staff within the business are security cleared.
We continue to provide full lead based processing for exempt category product, whilst also having invested in lead-free equipment and process control.
Selective Solder and Wave Soldering Technology
We employ Selective and Wave soldering machines to achieve consistent quality and process control when assembling boards having multiple ground and power planes, high-current connectors or A-typical distribution of components.
In addition to the ubiquitous binocular microscopes, used throughout the plant, our special in-house inspection tools including Ersascope macro optical inspection and 3 dimensional X-ray.
We have two in-house Parylene vacuum coating installations, providing the ultimate coating technology for critical PCBs required to operate in rapidly changing environments. Whilst typically only some 20 to 25 microns in thickness the Parylene provides an extremely robust insulation and isolation, safeguarding boards exposed to high humidity and condensation, such as avionics boards. Parylene imposes no parasitic effects on coated boards of whatever circuit frequency, due to the formulation of the coating material and its uniform thinness across the board. Parylene is the preferred coating of the avionics industry. We also offers both dip-coating and spray-coating of Humiseal and other acrylic materials.
Our engineering staff have extensive experience and are happy to provide early feedback on plots of new PCB layouts. Often underestimated by design engineers, the art of achieving the required electronic functionality whilst designing a cost effectively manufactured PCB assembly, is vitally important as time-to-market shortens and the cost of re-design increases.
Quality and Accreditations
It is the objective of Ultra Electronics Energy to be a profitable business, recognized within industry as a manufacturer of high quality electronics. The continuing development of our people, processes and business systems is critical to our success. To these ends, we strive to put quality at the heart of everything we do. The holding of independently audited external Accreditations is a good indication of the underlying quality culture within our business.
